The QS is responsible for managing all aspects of quantity surveying and procurement activities for projects. This role ensures accurate cost estimation, effective supplier sourcing, and seamless procurement processes to optimize project spending and maintain timely delivery of materials—all while upholding industry standards and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Cost Estimation & Budgeting:
- Prepare accurate Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and cost estimates.
- Develop and manage project budgets throughout the project lifecycle.
2. Procurement & Supplier Management:
- Source, evaluate, and select suppliers and vendors based on quality, pricing, and reliability.
- Negotiate contracts and pricing agreements to secure the best terms for the organization.
3. Contract & Tender Management:
- Manage the tendering process including bid evaluations and contractor negotiations.
- Oversee contract administration ensuring compliance with legal standards and industry best practices.
4. Financial & Risk Analysis:
- Perform cost analysis and risk assessments to identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Monitor financial performance and project spending, providing regular reports to management.
5. Project & Time Management:
- Coordinate with project teams and internal departments to ensure procurement activities align with project timelines.
- Manage multiple tasks concurrently while meeting deadlines.
6. Regulatory Compliance & Ethics:
- Ensure adherence to procurement policies, industry regulations, and ethical sourcing practices.
- Stay updated with current market trends and legal requirements impacting procurement and construction.
